miss_morland: (writing now)

I'm taking another turn hosting the Write Every Day challenge, which is exactly what it says on the tin. Everyone is welcome to join at any time, whether you're writing fanfic or profic or something else.

How does it work?
I'll put up check-in posts every day, and then you can report about your progress (or lack thereof) in the comments. There's no minimum wordcount and no competition.

Goals for the month
If you like, state what your goal for the month is. Mine is to finish at least something - I have a few WiPs lying about in my drafts, being useless. I should also aim to have a draft of my assignment for the fic exchange I just signed up for.

Today's writing
I'm trying to ease my way back into writing fic, so only a few sentences for me on one of the aforementioned WiPs. It feels shapeless and unformed, as if I'm not certain myself where I'm going with it... Perhaps it's one of those stories where you just have to see how it turns out. I'm currently trying to make myself give it a chance before abandoning it altogether.

What about you?

Chipping in to say please do! I was new to it last month, and it was a total and complete blast, not to mention a game-changer for me in terms of the way I approach things. I hope we'll see you for this round. (No pressure, though! :-)

Thanks so much! I have a weird feeling that I might doing it wrong and confusing it with *post* every day. Whoops! This might be more challenging that I realized...

Well, hey, you are writing when you compose a post. I don't see why that couldn't count. It's really a very much cut-to-fit-your-lifestyle kind of challenge, I think. Do what makes you happy, and we'll cheerlead. :-)

♥ Now that I'm re-reading and realizing it is *write* something every day (not just doing a meme), this might be more of a challenge. Attempting it anyway!

My goal is going to be at least two 1500 fics (the drabbles are inspiration). Am I doing this right? :D

Thank you so much for hosting us this month! I appreciate your time and kindness and am looking forward to the month's writing adventures with you. :-)

I'll be continuing the original fic I began for the April challenge, but tonight I felt like a change, and as I'd seen a couple of White Collar episodes that intrigued me, I wrote a tiny little missing scene for one of them. Since I have not seen much WC and have never written the characters, it was sort of liberating. I'm so used to writing in a fandom that's familiar and with characters I know really well. Writing Peter and Neal based solely on my instinctual response to the cues in the episode was a ton of fun and very freeing.

Anyway, that scene came to 368 words, and it's a done deal. (It feels good to just have something short and sweet, as well.)

I wish you energy, focus, excitement, and fun for your projects this month. :-)

Thank you for hosting again this month! :D Best of luck also with getting back to writing. *hugs*
After a stretch of drawer fic only, writing worked well at the current WIP for the last two days, but today it's just been an alibi sentence as I spent most of today with sorting and editing photos of last year to finally upload them. *ahem* But even so there's been a bit for the writing in it, as I often use my pics for inspiration, and sorted a few into a new folder for it.

Hello *waves* I'm a newer (re-)addition to the challenge. It's lovely to meet you and thank you for hosting! Hmm, goals for the month. I am behind on my [community profile] inkingitout goals (7k behind, to be precise, so 15k to catch up instead of my usual 8k...) and I'd like to get a bit better about writing regularly. At the moment it's rather boom and bust as evidenced by my first few checkins with [personal profile] trobadora, haha. I don't have any exchange deadlines this month though, which should help with that. I also want to work more on not-challenge fic. I have totally failed to finish any projects that aren't attached to an exchange or something similar so far this year despite generating many bunnies I'd really like to write, so I think it's time to really knuckle down there.

Yesterday/May 1 I was still in bust mode so no words, fingers crossed for today.

Thanks so much for hosting this month's edition!

My goal for this month is basically: finish From the Ashes, the book I was supposed to have written 50k on last month and 30k this month. I ended up doing just over 5K last month so that leaves about 75K this month and an extended deadline from the 15th to the 31st.

However I'm not going to focus so much on word counts as I am just going to focus on writing a bit every day and chipping away at it. I think that's probably going to help me finish more than agonizing over not making certain counts. Especially as I have to start in a notebook and type up later, so likely what will happen will be several days of handwriting followed by a marathon day of typing, lather rinse repeat.

On that goal -- almost 2 pages handwritten today! Huzzah! Also, I journalled, which I'm trying to do on a more regular basis.

Thanks for hosting this month!

I didn't get any writing done yesterday. All I did after work was come home and sleep. >.>

Hopefully tomorrow is better in between bouts of studying.
